1/3 HP Refrigeration 3-in-1 — Start Relay, Overload & Capacitor
Universal 3-in-1 compressor start device for 1/2 HP vending-machine refrigeration units. Replaces the three electrical parts on the side of the hermetic compressor: start relay, overload protector, and start capacitor.
What it does: If the compressor hums, clicks, or will not start, one of those three parts is often the problem — not the hermetic compressor itself. This 3-in-1 combines all three into one solid-state unit so the compressor can start and stay running.
Common reason to replace: Compressor clicks every few minutes and never runs; compressor hums then trips; machine is warm even though the cooling deck is still charged; original relay, overload, or capacitor is burned or missing under the compressor terminal cover.
Install notes:
- Disconnect power first.
- Remove the plastic cover on the side of the compressor.
- Remove the old relay, overload, and start capacitor.
- Push the 3-in-1 connectors onto the compressor terminals and reconnect line power with the included wire nuts.
- Do not leave the old start components in the circuit.
- If the compressor still will not start after a correct install, the compressor or sealed system is likely failed.
Condition: New 3-in-1 start kit for 1/2 HP refrigeration compressors. Includes wiring hardware. This is the electrical start assembly only — not a complete cooling deck and not a replacement compressor.
A cheap first repair before condemning a 1/2 HP vending refrigeration unit. Match horsepower and voltage to the compressor tag before installing.
