Description
MEI VN2512 Bill Validator (Mars Series 2000)
The MEI VN2512 is a 24-volt Series 2000 bill acceptor built for unattended vending. It uses the compact “soda-style” bezel with high-visibility flashing green arrows, so customers can see the slot from a distance. VN = vending, 5 = $1–$5 class, 1 = compact bezel, 2 = 24V.
What it does
- Accepts U.S. bills four ways (face up or down, either direction)
- High acceptance of worn, wrinkled, faded, damp, dirty, limp, folded, or torn notes
- Low jam rate and a sealed plastic bill path that cuts debris buildup
- Interfaces: MDB and pulse/serial
- Compact bezel fits the common 3" × 4" validator opening on soda and many snack machines
Denomination note (important) Capability depends on the unit:
- Non-Flashport: effectively $1 only (cannot take current $5 notes)
- Flashport / updated firmware (often marked U3, U5, etc.): typically $1, $2, and $5, including later $5 designs when the unit has been updated
Always confirm Flashport status and current firmware before listing or installing if $5 acceptance is required.
Typical configuration
- Voltage: 24V (some listings also note 24/34V compatibility)
- Bezel: compact soda style with LED indicators
- Stacker: commonly upstack; 300-note magazine is a frequent pairing
- Use: Dixie-Narco, Vendo, Royal, Crane/National, Automatic Products, and other MDB or pulse vending cabinets
Why operators keep using it The VN 2000 series is known for reliability and high first-pass acceptance. The VN2512’s lighted compact bezel is often preferred over the smaller snack-style VN2502 when the cabinet opening allows it, because the lights and larger faceplate are more visible on the machine.
