MEI VN2511 Bill Validator (Mars Series 2000)
The MEI VN2511 is a 110–120V Series 2000 bill acceptor for unattended vending. It uses the compact soda-style bezel with flashing green LED arrows. Same family as the VN2512, except the last digit is voltage: 1 = 110V, 2 = 24V.
Model breakdown: VN = vending, 2 = Series 2000, 5 = $1–$5 class, 1 = compact bezel, 1 = 110V.
What it does
- Accepts U.S. bills four ways (face up or down, either direction)
- High first-pass acceptance of worn, wrinkled, faded, damp, dirty, limp, folded, or torn notes
- Low jam rate and a sealed plastic bill path that reduces debris buildup
- Compact soda-style bezel with high-visibility flashing green arrows
- Common replacement for the older VN2311
Denomination note (important) Capability depends on the specific unit:
- Non-Flashport: effectively $1 only (will not take current $5 notes; older 1990s $5s are no longer in circulation)
- Flashport / updated firmware (often U3, U5, U7, etc.): typically $1, $2, and $5 when the unit has been updated for later $5 designs
Confirm Flashport status and firmware before buying or installing if $5 acceptance is required. The machine itself must also be able to accept $5 bills.
Typical configuration
- Voltage: 110–120V (sometimes listed as 117V)
- Bezel: compact soda style (#1 mask)
- Stacker: commonly upstack; 300- or 500-note magazines are typical
- Interface: pulse/serial on many 110V cabinets; some later installs use a 110V adapter harness
- Use: older and line-voltage drink, snack, and frozen machines from Automatic Products, USI, National, Dixie-Narco, Vendo, Fastcorp, and similar
Why operators use it The VN 2000 series is known for reliability and high acceptance. The VN2511 is the 110V compact-bezel version of that platform—the same lighted faceplate as the VN2512, for cabinets that run line voltage instead of 24V MDB.
